Residential, High-Rise Residential

Shining Arts Museum

Site

The site is near National Museum of Natural Science, facing 50-meter-wide Boguan Road (Park Lane), 10-meter-wide Boguan 3rd Street and Zhongxing Street. The site is of polygonal shape and its area is 1044 square meters.

Requirement

Since the site is located in a great area, the owners hoped to build a building contains office of corporate headquarters (1st to 5th floor) and superior view apartments, which can show their minimalist aesthetic point of view and forward-looking enterprise value.

Challenges

  1. Restrictions on height of the building by legislations of main road, secondary road and high-rise building
  2. To raise the effectiveness of underground parking in such a narrow and irregular site.
  3. To satisfy the needs of office and living space and integrate the differences between their forms and spaces.

Design Concept and Tactics

Transform of Function

The designer used the common space of public service to make a transition between offices and apartments.

Transform of Structure

The steel structure of B1 to 6th floor as a structural conversion to increase the effectiveness of the parking space.

Transform of Form

Heavy stones are used to be the base in lower floors. The transform of form happens when the material change into light glass curtain in the upper floor.

Transform of Symbol

The designer transformed coins as the exterior of the building, which can be a metaphor of financial stability.

Light

Design of light continues the concept of symbol, while at the same time, the designer tried to show Chinese art of calligraphy, by which way express the dual communication between day and night, the Western rationality and the Eastern emotion.
